Meh

The narrator's American accents were abysmal. Really took me out of the story. The story itself was so/so

great book!

This book was great. The story was captivating. While listening, you know you are missing pieces of the puzzle, but can't be sure what exactly it is. I still don't feel like we have it all. I can't wait to listen to the next one in hopes of having some of those gaps filled in.
As for the narration, it was ok. I have listened to both better and worse. the thing that bothered me most was the American accents being off and that they weren't consistent.

With that cliffhanger... I had to keep reading!

At first, I thought this book was going to have massive plot holes... boy was I wrong! I loved the wording and narrative style, so I listened on and I am so glad I did.

Those questions I had at the start of the book were the last thing from plot holes, they were part of a much larger plot, the heart of the entire Blackwood Security Series. You have to wait to learn those burning questions like "What is with the ex-husband?" or "if she's such a bad ass, why did she run?", it all becomes clear in the later books. So, put a hold on those larger questions, the wait is worth it, and enjoy the story as it goes along. I cannot stop listening!

I also must note that Sarah Kempton is such a talented voice actress, I am completely blown away by her!

Mystery woman

If you are looking for a typical book that starts at Point A and goes straight through the alphabet in a linear line, this book is probably not for you. If you'd rather go on a mystery ride of uncertainty and discovery then jump right in. Surviving after a major trauma is hard for anyone but throw in a deadly skill-set and broken heart and anything can happen. I think that the narrator nails the voice for the main character and since the majority of the book is done from her point of view, it worked for me.

Someone else said this but keep reading if you’re on the fence. It’s worth it. And — the voice actress is quite talented! Don’t worry - her accents improve remarkably over the next two books

Love the book, but....

I love the book, but not the narrator. She does the English accents great (I assume she is English), but the American and Spanish accents are terrible, and so are the mens voices. I will keep on buying the audio books because I love them, but I do hope the narrator works on her accents and voices, or Elise switches to a better or more experienced narrator.

Interesting characters, action and twisted plot

Elise Noble has written a fun and eliciting romantic thriller that gives you action, twisting plot lines carried out by interesting characters. Sarah does a great narration giving the characters the voices and feelings the story requires.

Another tale about immoral heros with Gay Friends

The story was interesting and could have been really good but it seems that every book, movie, and story nowadays has to have a gay person, an immoral hero, and a naieve man that is rescued by a strong woman.

I really miss a good story with honorable characters that put the greater good above their own selfish desires.

Ugh… the American voices were very hard to listen to

I wish the narrator wouldn’t even have tried to make the American voices distinct; it made it very hard to listen and has me considering not getting the next book. Otherwise it was great!
