This is a page turning and an intriguing new book from Elise, we've been reading about Alaric in the previous books, but this book really revealed who he is and all about his past with Emmy. Emmy letting her guard down is something that doesn't happen everyday, but she underestimate a little girl and paid dearly for it! Then, there is Sky and Bethany, new and interesting characters by themselves. Sky is a girl you really want to know about. You won't put this book down, I promise you and after it finished, you will long for the other parts.!

What can I say about Elise's writing that'll do her justice? She's just too good when it comes to keeping the reader at the edge of their seat! You'd think after reading almost all of her books and already being familiar with most characters, I'd know what to expect. But no, trust Elise Noble to throw a curveball that's bound to blow you away! Emerald lives up to expectations and even exceeds them in a lot of ways... Emmy and Alaric make a great team.. Add to it the fact that Alaric's the one that Black is most insecured about and you know you've got a nail biter! Add to the mix Rune and Sky... The former, A's daughter that Emmy doesn't know about and Sky, whose origins are similar to Emmy's. As a heroine, Bethany's character needs to grow out of her shell and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next instalment of this trilogy to know more!!!

PERFECT - as usual. I did an all nighter to complete this and I have no regrets except that it's already over. I love that we were introduced to some awesome new characters like Sky, Beth and Gemma, and we also got to see other much beloved characters return – I'm looking at you, Emmy! As a trilogy this has naturally left me on the edge of my seat with many unresolved issues! The plot was flawless and I'm greatly anticipating Red After Dark. If you've read Elise's books, GIVE HER YOUR MONEY AND READ EMERALD. To say it's worth it is an understatement. If you haven't read any of her works, go to Pitch Black and start. You are missing out on a lot. I fall in love with every character Elise brings to life on the pages and I honestly marvel at her talent for suspense novels. Emerald has blown me away, as all her other novels have. they just get more complex and more enticing as she goes.
