A Very Happy Valentine

Rate this book
To go or not to go, that is the question…

School reunions suck, everyone knows this, but Serena Carlisle has put herself down as a “maybe.” Maybe she’ll stay home and cry into her ice cream, or maybe she’ll put on her big-girl pants and show her old classmates that she’s managed to make something of herself.

Marc di Gregorio is Hollywood’s hottest property, and Serena’s getting paid to kiss him on stage every night. A dream job, right? It would be if not for Owen Cadwallader, the man she last saw eight years ago as she was loaded into the back of a police car at the school prom. The teenage crush she’s never been able to forget. He’s a “maybe” too, but will Serena manage to hold her nerve and face him again? Or should she take the easy option and drown her sorrows with a handsome heartthrob instead?

A Very Happy Valentine is a standalone romance novella in the Happy Ever After series.

Elise Noble

Elise Noble is an English rose with a few thorns who loves chocolate, sleep, and well-defined abs. Not hers, unfortunately. She lives near London with a horse who eats all her money and three dogs who eat everything else.

Elise writes real, gutsy heroines and flawed but swoon-worthy heroes in stories that mix mystery and mayhem, humour and happily-ever-afters.

"A Very Happy Valentine" is a lovely heartwarming story filled with entertaining characters that the reader will simply find themselves wanting to become emotionally connected too. I loved the lead female, Serena Carlisle and her simple down to earth personality, but still flawed concept she held about herself, whilst the lead male character Owen Cadwallader (ok, where on earth do you find a surname like this?) was truly something else but in true shining white knight style. If you are a regular reader of this Authors works you will recognise the mention of characters that have either had their own story told or simply mentioned throughout her many works. But if not, don't worry as it will not confuse a reader new to the world of Noble's Blackwood security series. Therefore it is very much a standalone story. I must admit I also loved the male character of Marc di Gregorio, the leading actor that plays the leading character in the play "The Other Woman' that is the focus for the storyline. I thought it was a very well devised plot filled nicely with enough action, a hint or two of drama, a degree of mystery and some hilarious moments throughout to really capture my interest from the beginning and kept the interest level growing throughout.

Sweet romance

No plot spoilers
No potential triggers
There is a little swearing and a few sex scenes.
The characterisation is absolutely perfect, I loved both lead characters, with supporting characters a shining example of how to craft a good character.
It was nice to see cameos from previous books too!
It was a bit of a slow start but it soon picked up pace.
Unlike other books by the author this isn't a complex thriller with twists and turns, it is a genuine second chance romance.
I don't normally like the second chance genre, mostly because of the reasons it didn't work first time, but this is so far removed from the trite second chance genre it may as well be in its own class.
I have no problem recommending the book.
I totally miss the Blackwood family and would love to read more about them, if you have not read the Blackwood series I would urge you to start the series.

"A Very Happy Valentine" by Elise Noble is an exquisite blend of romance, mystery, and humor that will leave readers swooning. In this charming narrative, Hollywood actress Serena is reunited with her high school best friend Owen, sparking a creeping romance that will warm even the coldest of hearts. Noble's expert storytelling shines through as she crafts compelling characters in Serena and Owen, whose magnetic connection leaps off the pages. Their journey from friends to lovers is peppered with delightful humor and tender moments that will keep readers eagerly turning the pages. But it's not all sunshine and roses—Noble intricately weaves a mysterious subplot that adds depth and intrigue to the story, keeping readers guessing until the very end. "A Very Happy Valentine" is a five-star masterpiece that proves love conquers all, making it the perfect read for any romantic at heart.

I enjoyed this little novella. It has much of the same characteristics as other Elise Noble writings – a connection to other books that are intriguing but doesn’t require that one is familiar with the other books, a sense of humor, delicious romance and passion, and, of course, people who do bad things being held accountable. This is a story of a young woman trying to find her way in show business, the new potential love, and the love left behind long ago. And of course there is a dog!
This is a quick, entertaining read worth checking out.

Belated Valentine Story but so good!

I wasn't sure what to expect from Elise's latest book because it started slow with Serena, an actress who is going to work with a Hollywood star in a theater production. It was an easy read and started to get really interesting when Serena comes home to a water pipe fiasco and her old school friend Owen sends Blackwood Security guys for her rescue.

Fantastic book even though a little bit more Emmy would have been nice 😉 Thanks for this advanced copy. My review is honest as always. In fact I never disliked any of Elise's books so far!

A Very Happy Valentine is a delightful stand-alone novella with some familiar characters popping up that Blackwood Security fans will recognise.

No one really enjoys school reunion but Serena had more reason than most to avoid hers. This book is all about that reunion and the memories and angst it triggers. This book has great characters and a terrific storyline interspersed with touches of humour. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it to all Elise Noble fans and to anyone who enjoys a great read that will keep you entertained to the very end.

A Very Happy Valentine by author
Elise Noble is absolutely enjoyable and entertaining.
I was intrigued with the first sentence when Serena Carlisle said she was a fraud. Why is she a fraud? Serena’s story reveals the how’s and why’s that she see herself in that light. But, true to Ms. Noble’s unique ability to use humor, conflict and intrigue there is a solid story where a young woman finds herself self-worth and love.

Another fun piece of escapism.
Elise Noble has a wonderful way of writing that pulls you and and makes you invested in the characters. Here we have a female lead who doesn't see herself as anything special even though she's working with (and kissing) a hollywood star.
I enjoy the way Blackwood security are seamlessly worked into the story.
This can be enjoyed as a standalone introduction to Elise Noble or read as part of the wider series arc.

Like all of Elise Nobel books this one has mystery, love, a little bit of humour and some sex just to spice things up a bit. Serena Carlisle is the main character trying to make it in showbiz, but will new love find her or will all sparks reunite? Will her life be threatened because of jealousy or is it just a mistake. Read the novelle A very Happy Valentine's by Elise Nobel to find the answers to all these questions. You won't regret this read!!!!!

Owen and Sarena finally got their book! This was a great read with lots of layers. I love how all the characters were introduced. I wasn't sure exactly where this one was going, which made it all the more interesting to read. The characters certainly met the challenge of "don't judge a book by it's cover"! Highly recommended. Another great one from Elise Noble.

I received an advance copy so that I could provide an honest review.

Grab your favorite beverage and settle in to read this sweet second chance romance. This novella is a very quick read that you will not want to end! The characters are likable and have an interesting backstory. While there are appearances by characters from the Blackwood Security series, you can read this as a standalone book. But trust me once you read an Elise Noble book you are going to want to read them all!

Funny, fun, flirty read with impeccable writing as always by Elise Noble! The characters are just great! Loved the “outcasts” turned shining stars theme. Everyone who’s ever been bullied hopes for redemption, justice and a little pay back by showing the world how to live their best life! Great author and great book!

A Very Happy Valentine came most welcomed after a long week at the office and has been the highlight of my rain-plagued weekend.
The novelette is light and fresh, with a cast of delightful characters.
Serena is funny, soft-hearted, and playfully self-deprecating; Owen is an irresistible computer geek with a heart of gold.
I found their story sweet and refreshing.

Kissing a Hollywood heartthrob for six weeks should be the best job ever but Selena is distracted by an invite to her High School reunion and memories of her best friend from the past.

Great novella with hot men and lots of laughs.
