I have read every book by Elise Noble and love them all - and this one is a little bit different. She continues to be able to add some fresh ideas to her stories. This time, the people in question have known each other for a long time. Sloane is a great mix of professional efficiency and personal messiness - makes for a really endearing character. I also love that she is a curvy girl. Logan is sweet and hot - like all the Blackwood men. Part of what makes the story entertaining is the issues that befall the antagonists in the story - whether they are truly bad or just completely unsuitable for Sloane. It is fun to imagine Sloane and Logan dancing around their feelings at the office.

The story also weaves in appearances by many of the other Blackwood characters, which is always fun for those of us who have come to know them all well.

On a more personal note - this new book arrived at a great time where being stuck isolated at home, nothing is more comforting than a book that makes you laugh, sigh, and blush!

Sloane (Emmy & Black's assistant) finally gets her own book!!! Sloan has always been self-conscious because she isn't a size 2! Logan doesn't care! The sexual tension between Sloan and Logan is palpable! The things that Logan will do to help Sloane will make your heart swell! This is another AMAZING book in the Blackwood Security Series!!! Witty, romantic, and suspenseful with NO Cliffhanger!!! But, you'll want to read the rest of the books in this series to get to know the other characters better. Also, Nickel is my favorite character!!!

Elise Noble does it again and again with her wonderful Blackwood Security novels and this one is certainly no different. From the very start Elise captures her audience wanting and wondering who, why and how the story will unfold. Honestly it is so difficult to have to stop reading for other daily tasks to be done, but in times of a world pandemic life allows us this luxury to sit and read.
This instalment of the series we get close to 'home', that is the Richmond office of Blackwood Security and one of our equally mentioned but quieter characters of Sloane Mullins, PA to two of the company's bosses. Now if you have had the fortunate opportunity to read any of Elise's works you will understand the strategic machinations she goes to in writing about her characters and the troubles and issues that unite them.
The story balances nicely with great banter & humour, and with some truly comical moments and characters. Ranging from a wardrobe malfunction in a yoga class, to a small time heist of retrieving property from an ex's house that involves a number of highly trained security personnel from the company all whilst having one of the world's deadliest ex Russian assassin's watching over the ex boyfriend whilst this search and rescue of property goes down.
Then of course there is the usual behind the scenes of betting that occurs every time a new romance blossoms. But the one underlying issue that always drives a positive note for the reader is the idea that whoever it is in trouble, they will have only the best looking out for you.
Again a great stand alone novel filled with humour, sexual tension, high jinx, action and memorable characters makes it for great entertainment.
Besides anyone that can utilise the line of "you could have heard a cockroach fart" in a story deserves more than five stars.

With Nickel, Ms Noble changes, once again, the theme and the style of her novels. This time, she presents her readers with a light, entertaining story, enriched with well defined, fresh and lively characters and, of course, an essential contribution of Emmy and the rest of the Blackwood team. The opening of the book, a classical ex-boyfriend / insecure heroine theme, is deceiving. After the first few chapters, the intriguing personalities of the main characters unveil, action kicks in, and the ride begins. Sloane, Emmy's and Black's hyper-efficient secretary, reveals a sweet and generous personality and a sharp mind. Many have taken advantage of her selfless and bighearted spirit. For this, behind her polished and smart facade hides a vulnerable and insecure soul. Logan is a senior member of the Blackwood team. So far, Ms Noble's readers have only seen him taking part in dangerous security operations. In Nickel, Sloane's misadventures with a stalking ex-boyfriend convince him to act on his longtime office crush. Throw in cyberbullying, catfishing, digital piracy, and unparalleled performances from Emmy, Ana, and Agatha, the newest member of the Blackwood tech department, and the result is a fast-paced, entertaining, intriguing novel, the perfect story for taking the reader's mind off today's dire circumstances.

Nickel is another great read from Elise Noble, full of her signature great one-liners, fab characters, awesomely hot action guys and a story that twists and turns, ending with a surprise that I didn't see coming.
This time we meet Sloane, the super efficient PA who looks after Emmy & Black. She is quiet and lacks self confidence, but has a huge heart and a problem saying no to people. Logan, meanwhile, is one of Emmy's team, who is great at covert ops, but totally bewildered by so much in normal life. The whole part about getting Sloane's things back from her ex is hysterical, as are his reactions to Sloane's crying and fear of mice.
The story has lots of cameos from the Blackwood team, including Ana and Emmy, and deals with more day-to-day problems than some of the others. This in no way detracts from the story and it is still a great read.
If you are new to Elise's writing, read this and you'll be looking for all her back catalogue. If you're already familiar with her writing, this is a fun read that is well worth your time and money.
I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book.

Another amazing book in the Blackwood Elements series by Elise Noble.

Sloane is Emmy and Black’s super efficient kick ass assistant but her love life is a complete disaster. Enter Logan, one of Blackwood Security’s finest and you’re taken on a fantastic journey into their lives of highs and lows and some laugh out loud moments. It’s ingenious the way Elise has included all the little side characters into her stories, providing an ever expanding family of characters we love.

This book is a must read and if you haven’t delved into The Blackwood world yet then I suggest you get started as you don’t know what you’re missing.
Blackwood Elements series encompasses all the other side characters from the Blackwood Security series and though you don’t need to have read any other books it helps provide a background into the other characters mentioned in this book.
Wanting to add another all time favorite book couple to your list then start with the Blackwood Security series with Emmy and Black, you won’t regret it!

This is another amazing story from Elise Noble. Sloan and Logan have been simmering along silently ever since they first met years ago. Sloane is an interesting character and nothing like I had seen her in my mind. Ever the professional she has her flaws and her ups and downs with the men in her life. She lives with her beloved cat Nickel. Logan, on the other hand, is one of Emmy’s boys and is tall, gorgeous and fit and tries anything to unsuccessfully gain Sloane's attention. The story is really funny and in parts there is real drama and unusual twists that keep you reading on even when your dinner is burning. I found this to be a compelling read and without doubt one of those books I will turn to again and again. I voluntarily offered to read an advanced copy of this book and leave a true review

I loved this book from Elise Noble! Sloane is amazing at her job as Emmy’s assistant at Blackwood Security and keeps everything running smoothly. She can’t seem to do the same for her personal life. She always finds the wrong men and even has to deal with several who find her. Her self esteem takes hit after hit. Bad boy Logan is part of the elite team at Blackwood but is much more than a reputation.

When Sloane encounters increasingly strange and dangerous situations, she needs to decide if she will let herself trust Logan to help.

I loved that the author allowed Sloane’s vulnerability to show as she came to realize that she’s stronger than she imagined. This book has it all- action, romance, and humor that made me laugh out loud. I voluntarily read this as an advance copy and could not put it down.

Nickel: A Romantic Suspense Novel (Blackwood Elements Book 9) by Elise Noble

My thoughts:
I am a fan of Elise Noble's writing style and enjoy the way her stories unfold. I was completely engaged from the first chapter till the very end.
I ended up reading well into the early morning; just had to find out how it all came together. This is Logan and Sloane's story with great twists and unexpected turns and their Happy Ever After. Another great read. 4 stars.

This is a stand alone book, but part of the Blackwood Elements series so various characters from other books make an appearance. If you have not read any of Elise Noble's books, I suggest you start with The Black Trilogy: Blackwood Security Books 1 - 3 (Blackwood Security Box Set).

Review Nickel

Nickel is the 9th book in the Elements series and this time we get to know 2 of the Blackwood employees a lot better - both of them have been included in several of Elise’s other books, but never as the main characters.

I love this book and the way we get to know Sloane and Logan behind their professional efficiency with all the quirks and insecurities they have - and the way that Elise makes me laugh out loud all the time.

As with Elise’s other books, this one has it all - great characters (both the good and the bad), humour, steamy romance, suspense and Blackwood action. What’s not to like? It’s a definite recommendation from me - I’ve already read I twice :-)

I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Elise Noble does not disappoint. I can binge read her books may times and still can't wait for more.
In this installment of Elise Noble's Blackwood Elements series we finally learn more about, Sloane, the devoted secretary of Blackwood Security and Logan, a veteran member of Blackwood, who we find out has had a crush for quite some time. He finally steps in and retrieves Sloane's stuff from an ex-boyfriend with the help of other well known characters including a deadly Russian assassin. When Sloane starts dating again and when things start getting out of hand Logan is there to help.

If you're looking for great banter, humor, and comical moments and characters this has it all. A tinge of mystery with an outcome you would not expect.

Nickel is a brilliant addition to the Blackwood Elements series. It features two characters that will be very familiar to all Blackwood fans. Sloane is not quite as you expect, she is curvy and insecure yet super efficient and works closely with Emmy. Her personal life is just her and her fabulous cat Nickel. Logan, a highly skilled member of the Blackwood team, is sexy, handsome and fit and he likes Sloane. Unexpected events will have an impact on both their lives. This is romantic suspense at its best. The addition of other popular characters and the unique humour that is synonymous with Elise Noble books just makes this book even better. I absolutely loved this book and cannot recommend it highly enough.

While Sloane is trying to get her belongings and a clean break from a cheating ex who wants her back, her friend decides online dating is what she needs.

After 5 years of hidden interest, handsome and dangerous for the heart Logan volunteers to recover her belongings for a chance to spend some time with her.

I could not put down this stand alone novel in the Blackwood Elements series. A story full of misadventures, mystery and finding love. Lots of cameos from the Blackwood characters and bursting with the unique humor of Elise Nobel.

I volunteered to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I adore reading this authors books. You always know that you’re going to get an intelligent and well written book. This book is set within the headquarters of Blackwood and it’s surrounding area, so we catch up with loads of our favourite characters Logan and Sloane were a joy to read about. Sloane broke my heart at times and I Loved how Logan gave her back her self esteem. The plot as always is unique and suspenseful with lots of drama and intrigue. I must admit I didn’t see it coming at all! I love books where I can’t predict the outcome until the end! This is one of my all time favourite series. I cannot wait for the next book.

worth rereading

Sloan and Logan are two of my favorite characters in Elise Noble’s Blackwood security series. Their story does not disappoint.

In true Elise fashion, Nickel is funny, suspenseful, and will give you the feels. The first time I read it, it took me a while before I suspected what was going on. The twists were great (and believable).

Sloan is timid but beyond capable in her world.

Logan is awesome and deserving of Sloan.

Nickel the cat is adorable.

Just be sure you have either a few hours to dedicate to reading or a strong will so you can put it down, because Nickel is a fun read you won’t want to put down until you are done reading.

I received this book as a arc and these are my own opinions.
This is Sloane and Logan's love story. She has one bad thing happen to her after another and through it all Logan is there to save the day. The humor had me laughing out loud several times through out the book. My favorite line was when Sloane was saying the only man committed to her in her life was the pervert that called every Wednesday. Also not to mention the cockroach farts. This is another amazing book by Elise Noble that once you start you will not be able to put down. Enjoy!

Once again a 5 star novel from Elise Noble, that I was unable to put down.
The story of Sloane and Logan flowed seamlessly from start to finish - the story itself somewhat of a roller coaster ride as Sloane runs into problems from her ex, problems from a well-meaning friend putting her profile on a dating site, cases of mistaken identity and trying to convince herself she isn't attracted to Logan, who has admired her from a distance for years. Add in rich characters and imagery and this makes a fantastic book to read. Looking forward to the next book.

I received an advanced review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

As always Elise gives you another awesome read. Sloane Mullins Emmy and Black's very efficient assistant has trouble in the love department. Her good friend and collegue tries to give a helping hand but inadvertently makes things even worst. Than comes Mr Knight in shining armour Logan, who has secretly been in love from a distance with Sloane for years, to her rescue.

Follow these two in their adventure of finding true love and righting pass hurts. Will Sloane finally find true love and heal her broken heart?? Read Nickel and you will find out.

Wow! Elise has done it again with Nickel! She tells Logan’s and Sloane’s story using humor and intrigue. Logan, a Blackwood operative, and Sloane, Emmy and Blacks’s top notch administrative assistant, are interested in each other, but resistant to express their feelings for each other.
Logan’s attempts to retrieve Sloane’s personal property from her ex, the mother who loves the ex, the ever present office romance pool, or discovering why there are men after Sloane are guaranteed to provide reading enjoyment.

"Nickel" another great release from Elise Nobel that's filled with romantic suspense, action, humour, twist and turns. It's another of Blackwood character's story although written from a different direction but still yet keeps one intrigued to know what happens next.will Logan and Sloane's insecurities and threats allow them to explore that chemistry and feelings they both have been nursing for years for each other blossom? Find out in this recent release and I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

If you have read a Blackwood novel before you know who Sloan is and I was happy to get to know Emmy's assistant better. We jump right into the story when Sloane tries to tell her ex Kenneth that doing the dirty with his secretary won't be forgotten and forgiven. So when he doesn't stop bugging her, her colleague Logan steps in to help her and while both are secretly attracted to one another, you're in for a fantastic mix of funny and thrilling moments.

I can't get enough from Emmy, Black and their friends and employees. Thanks for another great book Elise!

Aww. Loved this book

No plot spoilers
There is a potential trigger warning relating attempted rape.
There is swearing and a couple of light sex scenes.
As ever, the characterisation is absolutely perfect.
The plotline is engaging and ensures you keep turning the pages.
I highly recommend the series.

Just when you think they can’t get better, so Elise pulls another trick out of her box.

Bradley, who doesn’t love him. The line where he says “Let’s put the Fun back in Funeral has everybody got their bingo cards” just brilliant
