Help me.

English teacher Corazon da Silva attends the funeral of Isabella Morales, but soon afterwards, two desperate words whispered over the phone shake her to the core. Is her best friend really dead?

With little interest from the Colombian police, Cora goes undercover to hunt for Izzy in America. The journey promises to be dangerous, but she’s not worried because her big brother, Rafael, is watching her every move.

The only problem? Rafael’s an assassin, and he’s just shot somebody he shouldn’t have. Now they’re in a race against time to find Izzy before his enemies catch up with him, and Cora isn’t the only person with a hidden agenda.

I’m a huge fan of this series and waiting patiently for this book was hard. It’s so worth the wait believe me!
In this book we not only get Corazon ie Cora’s story but we meet new characters along the way. Her brother Rafael and Izzy her friend as well as others. Throw in lots of Black and Emmie and you have a multitude of stories going on. Ana, Sofia Mick, Dan and Alaric play major roles here too. Where to start...well let’s say it’s not what I expected but it was compelling and heartbreaking at times. The emotional element was high in this book and I couldn’t put it down. Add in Eduardo and his family and you have a very complex and intriguing storyline.
I loved having more of Emmie and Black too. Their connection and relationship goes from strength to strength and their antics make me smile in what otherwise was a serious situation. The revelations in this book will make you gasp with surprise too! I can’t recommend this book and series highly enough. Fantastic book Ms Noble can’t wait for the next book.

It is hard to write a review for Quicksilver because the story is so rich, so full of twists and key developments in the Blackwood saga that every word is at risk of becoming a spoiler.
As in many other of Elise Noble’s stories, Quicksilver cannot be assigned to a specific genre. It is obviously an action packed book, and there is also some romantic suspense in it. However, as the story revolves around sex trafficking, there is also a pretty realistic, but never crude, description of what the life of the women involved is like, with the author reflecting on how different personalities react to such extreme circumstances.
Quicksilver also weaves in key developments in Black’s and Emmy’s life into the plot. Many chapters are narrated in Black’s first person, allowing for the exploration of the nuances of one of the most mysterious and introverted characters in the series.
The Blackwood team is, as usual, working at their best at this new investigation to try to save the victims of the sex slave trafficking, going against criminal and, sometimes, official entities.
Emmy and her teammates are their usual lethal selves but this case gives them an ulterior motive to fight for a rapid and satisfactory solution.
Finally Cora, the female protagonist, is a very valuable addition to the cast of characters. Her strength and courage match her incredible psychological resilience.
Quicksilver is a complex, fascinating, highly emotional story. It is narrated with Elise Noble’s very peculiar writing style, always avoiding excesses in drama and crudeness, very serious and detached, respectful for the pain and suffering caused by the corresponding real life situations, but punctuated by her irresistible, and never out of place, British irony.
All the numerous twists in the story are unexpected, unpredictable developments; a tribute to the author’s creativity and yet another reason to appreciate the book.
Overall, Quicksilver is simply too good of a book to be missed. The only regret after reading it is being faced with the the seemingly impossible wait before the next episode is released!

🔫🇨🇴It was going well but the minute blackwood security started I fell into an unknown sea because I'm not following the series. Care to be not so vague and cut up the inner languages? It's overwhelming.
🔫🇨🇴It's not Cora's story anymore.
🔫🇨🇴They failed. WTF?
🔫🇨🇴The story just flipped. I didn't sign up for this.
🔫🇨🇴Truth serum? You gotta be kidding me
🔫🇨🇴The book is executed badly. You establish rafe and cora as our main character thn you flip the plot and they just fail and now side subjects. We readers picked the book to read their story not just to watch them get tortured.
🔫🇨🇴I don't know the backstory but how can you be attached to people who supposedly killed your whole family.
🔫🇨🇴“Shit. I didn’t realise it was that bad here.” “We’re kidnapped and sold into the sex trade. What the hell did you think was happening to us when you were working at that warehouse?” Exactly? Like wtf for the millionth time.
🔫🇨🇴I don't want to read about family reunions while our main character is getting abused and raped on the other side.
🔫🇨🇴Leandro is our H, isn't he? *Sigh* 0 chance of me liking the book thn. Cause I know he's gonna turn around and help in future but the fact still stands that he was working there ignorantly and never found the situation revolting. If he doesn't have an ulterior motive working there thn I just can't accept him.
🔫🇨🇴Oh thank God.
🔫🇨🇴I don't know what to feel about how casually they're talking about rape and abuse. Where's the fire in Cora? While I appreciate that she's not breaking after all this but I don't see the fire in her.
🔫🇨🇴Ok I figured out what was wrong in this book. The humor was not balanced and very misplaced. You don't snap at those victims you just rescued or roll your eyes and make jokes about the situation.
🔫🇨🇴The Eduardo and Floriana situation is fucked up.
🔫🇨🇴It's a freaking Disney book now, is it?
🔫🇨🇴I won't call these books standalone.

Sicario de Silva

The first ten chapters of this standalone book are seemingly unrelated to Blackwood Security. Corazon de Silva is in her homeland of Columbia, SA, when her best friend, Isabella, dies unexpectedly under mysterious circumstances. Then three weeks after Izzy's funeral, Cora answers the phone in their small apartment and hears Izzy's voice say "Help me". With little to go on, Cora begins to investigate the last days of Izzy's life, intent on finding if she's still alive. Within a short time, she is approached by a man who was seen with Izzy at a local club. And Cora decides to pursue her investigation with backup from her older brother, Rafael, who she just learned is a sicario, in a long line of family sicarios, or assassins.

When Emmy Black receives a call from Columbia telling her that the man she thinks of as a father has been shot and his future is uncertain, Emmy begins plotting revenge before her bags are packed. With Black, Fia, and Ana in tow, she also contacts her former lover Alaric to assist and heads to the Columbian police station where the assassin is being held. But once there, Emmy is taken hostage by the prisoner, who escapes, only to wake up tied to a bench in a basement with Emmy asking questions.

This is another great read in the Blackwood Security series. It's full of surprises and though it can stand alone, reading The Black Trilogy first will provide background that will help the reader understand the history, dynamics and personalities involved.

4.5stars. Fantastic but difficult

No plot spoilers
There are potential triggers, continuously throughout the book, relating to kidnap, sexual slavery and ongoing rape.
There were times I found the book incredibly difficult to read, it provoked anxiety and utter sadness.
Of course, it's not all hard to read, the majority of the story is fast paced and really interesting. Cora is an upbeat personality type and her determination to survive is woven into her story.
I just think that there should have been a prominent potential trigger warning in the blurb, I believe I would have passed on the book had I been aware just how dark it would be.
The characterisation is flawless, with individual personalities and motivators that make the characters believable, as ever, Emmy and Black are OTT and all the more lovable because of it.
The plotline is engaging, despite the subject matter.
Would I recommend the book?
Knowing that not every one is the same and other readers will be able to get past the abuse, and if they are a fan of romantic thrillers, then yes, I have no problem recommending the book. I would advise reading the series from the beginning to obtain the best reading experience.
There is some swearing.
There are some sex scenes, not all of them consensual.
There is a slow burn romance.

Simply amazing!
Quicksilver is the 11th book in the Blackwood series, and they just get better and better - something you probably wouldn’t expect, but they do.

In this one we finally get a POW from Black himself, letting us know more about what is going on behind the scary exterior - and I love it!

As in other of her books, Elise doesn’t shy away from choosing a scenario from the really ugly sides of the human civilisation.
In this one it makes me as a reader both wanting to read fast to make sure it all ends well, and at the same time put the book down because I can’t bear to read on. She manages to get those stomach clenching emotions out and you can’t help to just feel the emotions of the characters as the story progresses.

If you are already familiar with Elise’s work, this is another “must read” - and if you’re not, hurry up and get started - many hours of incredibly entertaining reading awaits you!

To start with, if you haven’t read the rest of the Blackwood Security series, I highly suggest you go back and read them. Those books give great insight as to what leads up to this story. This is another example of all the tangled threads Elise Noble is oh so talented in weaving and then unraveling.

Soon after Cora’s best friend is presumed dead, she has reason to doubt it. A mysterious phone call leaves her questioning. Shortly there after she discovers that her brother is an assassin. Enter the Blacks and a handful of assassins we have met in previous books, as well as that oh so tangled web that Elise has been crafting since the beginning of this series and you have Quicksilver—A five star read that keeps you guessing as to what new revelation will come next.

My favourite Blackwood story so far!

What a tangled weave this story is! Elise Noble has done it again, weaving a rich tapestry with multiple storylines that cross and interconnect. We find out much more about Black's history and family he never knew. So many twists and turns, gut wrenching drama, action galore and of course the dark humour in the appropriate places. A romantic thriller wouldn't be complete without finding love in unusual circumstances. Bravo Elise Noble, you have outdone yourself with this one.

This can be read as a standalone but makes much more sense when you know many of the characters from previous books in the series. Do yourself a favour and read all of the Blackwood novels. You won't be disappointed.

Quicksilver is the latest Blackwood Security book and it is absolutely brilliant. It can be read as a stand-alone but I definitely recommend you read the series to truly appreciate this book. When Cora get a phone call from beyond the grave she had no idea what would happen next. This is an outstanding book on many different levels as it weaves several storylines together into an incredible read. It also gives us more of Black's past and a much deeper understanding of what makes him tick. Elise Noble is a writing genius and Quicksilver is one of her best books to date. I loved it and cannot recommend it highly enough.

I am totally addicted to Elise Noble’s Blackwood series. Once I open one of these novels, I can’t put it down. The situations that Emmy's team end up in, the wry remarks, the one liners that make you laugh out loud and the riveting story line make for great entertainment and I often find myself reading the books more than once. Try any of the series - Quicksilver is number 11 - and be ready to be hooked.
I especially loved that the mysterious Black was more prominent in this book, and plenty of the other characters we know and love showed up too. Elise's ability to write such different stories every time, while retaining the series theme, is amazing and I can't wait for the next book!

Corazon creates chaos! This spunky young lady, an English tutor in a area ravaged by drug wars and corrupt government, tries to find her best friend. Aling the way, she meets the worst of humanity. In a parallel storyline, her brother runs across a ruthless Emmy, and suddenly our world is upended. Noble has another home run — somewhat messy — but nonethess a might read. The Blackwood series keeps me on the edge and greedy for more. This does not give me emmy and black’s baby story for which I am desperate, but it delves into the horror of human trafficking while still giving us hope!

Quicksilver by Elise Noble

The first two words “Help me” caught my interest. The rest is history as it has been said. Elise takes the reader through many intense adventures. Emmy and Black as well as other “cohorts” are part of the intrigue that answers many questions about Blacks past.
We are further introduced to new characters who we are guaranteed to see in the future. Quicksilver does not disappoint.
Elise is at her best.

Another must read from Elise Noble

The well-written, entertaining and sometimes dark story sucked me up until I saw the last word.

I recommend it to everyone who's looking to curl up and lose themselves for a while.

The really great story-line is the perfect mix of crime, drama, heartbreak, recovery and full-blown love.

If it’s Your first book from Blackwood Security You really have to start with book one in this series. You won’t regret it all!!!

So, go ahead, grab this book and let the story give you relaxed reading time.

I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel. I have voluntarily chosen to leave my review in support of this book.

A perfect storm

A great drama story and then at Chapter 11, all of our dear Blackwood friends are back and the story is a thriller. I love Elise's ability to make the book a stand alone without rehashing the entire series. With that said, you really HAVE to read the entire series, every book keeps pace and thrills while adding friends to the Blackwood family. Can't wait for the next book!! Another book by one of my favorite authors. I have to admit that I put this one down several times at the beginning. I even started thinking to myself has she changed her style of writing and should I find a new author. Then I read a little bit more, and some of my favorite Blackwood characters started showing up. Next thing I know it's 3 in the morning and I force myself to stop reading because I have to get up and go to work in a few hours.

How Do These Books Get Better

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I have NEVER read a series like this. Each book is unique and the threads that bind them ensure you have to read the series chronologically. Book 11 and no signs of slowing down or in my experience the author starts getting sloppy and races for the finishing line. SO NOT THE CASE WITH THIS AUTHOR.

Thank you Elise! Next!

Another great story, greater even than a few others as this added a new dimension to Charles Black's story! I always enjoy Blackwood Security books but more so when Emmy & Black feature 'majorly' (not sure if there's such a word!). I read this straight through and will probably reread as its that good! Thank you Elise! Next!
