What's the book about?

Discover the evil lurking in the shadows as reporter Samantha Roberts helps Detective Daniel Drake to uncover the secrets behind a murder in small-town USA. Her life is in danger and their love is on the line… Welcome to Lovely.

One hot August morning, the residents of the sleepy Appalachian Mountain neighbourhood awake to news of the horrific murder of beautiful yet troubled Emily Teller. But will the killer stop with her?

Newly promoted Detective Drake is put to the test, with his skills called into question as he hunts for the clues. Nothing is more important than catching the culprit – or so he thinks.

For ambitious local news correspondent Samantha, the murders could be the big break she's been longing for. National networks beckon, but will she end up being famous for all the wrong reasons?

My thoughts:

Welcome to Lovely is quite a short book, and while this means the story doesn't dig too much into the backgrounds of the characters, it also makes it the perfect length to read in one afternoon.

Daniel and Samantha are supported by a great cast of side characters, and I can honestly say this one kept me guessing to the end. Plenty of suspects, a couple of people I adored and a few more I loved to hate, all set in a town that was once as lovely as its name.

I'd recommend this book if you're looking for a quick, thrilling read that's not too heavy or complex. None of the scenes are graphic.

Welcome to Lovely is $2.99, and it's also available to read under Kindle Unlimited.
